Welcome to the first issue of New Talavan Times, a weekly bulletin of New Talavan temple activities and news.

Vaisnava Festivals

Saturday, February 12 is the Appearance Day of:

Srimati Visnupriya Devi (wife of Lord Caitanya)
Sri Raghunandana Thakura (son of Mukunda dasa, Lord Caitanya's favorite kirtan leader)
Srila Raghunatha Dasa Gosvami (one of the Six Gosvamis of Vrndavan)
Sri Pundarika Vidyanidhi (personal associate of Lord Caitanya and spiritual master of Gadadhara Pandit)

It is also the Disappearance Day of Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura, the great author of many important Gaudiya Vaisnava literatures, and it is Vasanta Panchami, or the beginning of Spring.

Sunday, February 13 The Sunday Feast will be held as usual, with Arati beginning at 11:30 AM. Everyone is cordially invited to attend, participate in the ecstatic kirtan, and honor exquisite vegetarian Bhagavat-Prasad.

Monday, February 14 is the Appearance Day of Sri Advaita Acharya, member of the Panca-Tattva or fivefold incarnation of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Please observe fasting until noon.

Tuesday, February 15 is Bhismastami, the appearance Day of Sri Bhisma, one of the five Pandava brothers.

Thursday, February 16 is the Disappearance Day of Sri Madhvacarya, the great South Indian Acharya who developed the basis for Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's philosophy of acintya-bhedabheda-tattva, which describes the inconceivable, simultaneous oneness and difference of the Supreme Lord and His energy. Our lineage is thus known as the Brahma-Madhva-Gaudiya Sampradaya.
