Friday, February 18 is the Disappearance of Sri
Ramanujacarya, the great South Indian Acharya renowned for his
Sri-Bhasya commentary on Vedanta-sutra that soundly refuted
the impersonalist commentary of Sankaracarya.
Saturday, February
12 is Bhaimi Ekadasi. Fasting from
grains and beans.
Sunday,
February 20 is the Appearance of Lord Varahadeva. Lord Varaha
mercifully rescued the earth planet from the Garbhodaka Ocean and killed the
demon Hiranyaksa. The Sunday Feast
will be held as usual, with Arati beginning at 11:30 AM. Everyone is
cordially invited to attend, participate in the ecstatic kirtan, and
honor exquisite vegetarian Bhagavat-Prasad.
Monday, February 21 is the Appearance Day of
Sri Nityananda Prabhu, member of the
Panca-Tattva or fivefold incarnation of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Please
observe fasting until noon. There will be a
program and feast at the Temple at 7 PM.
Wednesday, February 23 is the Appearance Day of Srila Narottama Dasa
Thakura, disciple of Krsnadas Kaviraj Gosvami and
author of many nice songs about the path of Krsna Consciousness.
Monday, February 28 is the Appearance Day of Srila
Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, the spiritual master of His Divine Grace
Srila Prabhupada. It is also the Disappearance Day of Srila Gour Govinda Swami.
Fasting until noon, then a transcendental celebration will be held at the
Temple.
Don't Forget! Gaura-Purnima, the blessed
Appearance Day of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, is coming up soon! On
Friday, March 25 we are planning a grand
festival at the Temple. We want to offer 108 delicious vegetarian preparations,
cooked with devotion, to the Lord. Sign up to
offer your home-cooked specialty to Lord Gauranga!
We also want to
offer new outfits to our beautiful Deities, Their Merciful
Lordships Sri-Sri Gaura-Nitai and Sri -Sri Radha-Radhakanta. The outfits are
being made in Mayapur and to get here in time, have to be picked up by March 2.
To do this, we need a donor or donors to underwrite the cost of
the outfits plus shipping, a total of $1,800.
Offering new outfits to
Their Lordships is a very important service that is usually
performed only twice a year, on Janmastami and Gaura-Purnima. This is an
opportunity to get some special mercy. You will certainly
receive the blessings of Their Lordships for the entire year. Plus, in
recognition of this valuable and important service, the Deity outfit donor(s)
will receive some wonderful Deity decoration
maha-prasadam at the Gaura-Purnima
celebration on March 25! If you want to donate, please contact us right
away, time is short.
